INSIDE THE SYSTEM

Films to discover. A moment to share.

The Product

RomanceTV is an upcoming romance-focused streaming application built around two ways to watch: discover and enjoy films individually, or share a remote viewing experience with someone in a private Date Room. Its dark, cinematic direction uses premium, immersive presentation and glass-like interface details.

Streaming Experience

The home experience features a highlighted film, rows of romance categories, search and notification controls, Explore navigation, and Continue Watching. The interface is designed to make it easy to return to a film or discover something new.

Browse & Discovery

Browse brings together title search, category filters, Popular and New sorting, and a poster grid. Categories include Rom-Com, Love Stories, Teen Romance, Long Distance Love, K-Drama Romance, and Classic Romance.

Movie Details

Each film page presents a hero image or poster, synopsis, and genre, year, or rating when available. The interface includes Watch Now, a trailer, Watch Together, and a visual My List action.

Date Rooms — Watch Together

Date Rooms are the product’s defining shared experience. One person creates a private room, chooses a start time, and shares the private room code with a guest through one-tap copy or share. Host and guest readiness, a countdown, and a coordinated start lead both people into the Player when the room begins.

Realtime Room Experience

Room state follows both participants from joining and readiness through the countdown and start. The experience coordinates the transition into playback and responds to events such as a guest leaving or the host ending the room; full Player synchronization remains part of final development.

Notifications

Push notifications cover key Date Room moments, including guest joined, guest ready, room started, guest left, and host ended, helping both people stay informed around their shared session.

Backend & Content Data

The current backend uses Firebase Authentication, Firestore, Firebase Functions, Firebase Secret Manager, and Expo Push tokens. TMDB supplies film metadata, posters, backdrops, synopses, release dates, categories, and trailers; the catalog already holds more than 100 movie metadata documents. TMDB does not supply the full films, and a commercial licensed-film catalog is still in preparation.

What Makes It Different

RomanceTV brings film discovery and shared viewing together in one romance-first experience. Rather than only browsing a catalog, two people can plan a private Date Room and enter a film together from different places.

Status

RomanceTV is an upcoming product in final development and launch preparation; it has not been released publicly. Work remains on premium Player polish and full synchronization, connected My List and Favorites, the notifications screen, a commercially licensed film catalog, richer TMDB data, network and error handling, animation polish, real multi-user Date Room testing, and production and App Store preparation.
